QUESTION 1: What does the name Dunamis mean?

ANSWER: DUNAMIS (pronounced doo'-nam-is) is a Greek word that was used in the New Testament of the Bible referring to the power of God, given to the believer through the operation of the Holy Spirit.  It is defined as a force, ability, abundance, might, mighty deed, strength, and (worker of) miracles, specifically, miraculous power.

This business was founded on and is run by the dunamis power of God.

1 Cor. 4:20 (NLT)

For the Kingdom of God is not just fancy talk; it is living by God's power.

Ephes. 3:20 (NLT)

Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.

QUESTION 2: What does APU stand for?

ANSWER: An APU is an Auxiliary Power Unit. The purpose of an auxiliary power unit is to provide energy for functions other than propulsion without the expense of operating the main engine. This technology has been successfully used in a variety of industrial applications, from providing heating and cooling for stationary jet aircraft to creating refrigerated transportation containers.

QUESTION 3: Why does an APU make sense for my truck?

ANSWER: Trying to find the most important reason for everyone is difficult so we will provide a few of the most important for you to choose from:

Environmentally Sensitive: In the United States, the federal Department of Transportation regulations require 10 hours of rest for every 11 hours of driving. To impact global warming and air pollution, a growing number of states, counties and even cities are outlawing running your main engine while resting. The fines for idling your truck's engine while resting, which are increasingly being levied, can add up in a hurry. The right APU can provide all the comfort and electricity you need without requiring so much fuel and can save you maintenance costs associated with idling your truck's main engine to provide heating, cooling and electricity.

Your Comfort: Heating and cooling units in trucks were made primarily to provide comfort to you while driving. We believe that your comfort when sleeping is even more important. Dunamis ProMax APU was designed to get the temperature and humidity in your cab to the perfect level in a hurry to help you fall asleep fast and stay sleeping soundly until it is time to get back on the road again. That requires plenty of heating and cooling capacity and the ability to move a lot of air through your cab to regulate the temperature quickly. Why roll around in your bed waiting for it to get comfortable when you could be sleeping?

Saving Money:  Many feel that the most important reason to have a reliable APU on your truck(s), is the money that it will save you in fuel and maintenance. You only have to be on the road twelve days per month to have this equipment pay for itself in diesel savings. Click here to see the ROI on a ProMax APU.

What other savings can a ProMax APU provide for me?

ANSWER: The above ROI savings only took into consideration the savings in diesel fuel! Using a ProMax APU during your rest periods rather than using your main engine also reduces harmful emissions, extends the distance your truck will travel between services, reduces your service costs and extends your main engine's life significantly. It is not difficult to see how this will positively affect your bottom line.

QUESTION 4: How can a ProMax APU provide superior comfort when I am ready to sleep?

ANSWER: To our engineers, this isn't just a question, it is the question. Three years of product development were dedicated to answering this question better than anyone else. Because this is so important, we would like to offer you a three-part answer to this question.

Power - Being environmentally sensitive doesn't have to mean skimping on power. Having sufficient power provides greater reliability and greater comfort. The ProMax APU is capable of producing 33,000 BTUs for both heat and AC. We combine that with fans capable of moving 650 cfm (vs. 300 - 400 cfm of most competitors) of air to deliver that comfort throughout your cab - not just the small area directly in front of the fan. This extra power means your cab will heat or cool much more quickly. The fact that the Yanmar engine is sufficiently powered means that it will not be stressed providing this level of service. It will run quieter at lower rpm's and be more reliable when called into service.

Reliability - How can reliability provide more comfort? If you don't buy a ProMax, you'll learn first hand that on those days when your APU isn't reliable…you won't be very comfortable. As we explained, our Yanmar engine is well suited for the task, but we didn't stop there. The climate control module that you'll use to control the temperature in your cab is pictured to the left. You'll notice something missing - no digital gadgetry. All those guys driving down the freeway in fancy cars have learned first hand about the cost of unreliable digital gadgetry and how expensive it is each year to keep it operating. Planned obsolescence can be expensive. Our control module was built to take the ride in stride and handle cross-country truck duty. It, like our APU, was designed to do its job reliably so you can rest easy.

Quiet Comfort - If you haven't stayed at a hotel where having the air conditioning cycle on sounds like you're sleeping in the landing pattern of an international airport, then you may not be able to relate to how a noisy air conditioner can keep you awake, but trust us…it can. The Yanmar motor was chosen to minimize normal cycling noise. The power the Yanmar creates allows it to function with the RPM load at its quietest level so you can sleep undisturbed. Even the best APU is not noise free. That's why we don't install our unit on the back or roof of your cab. The ProMax APU is mounted directly to the frame of your truck. And it is mounted on a patent pending suspension system that is designed to lessen vibrations associated with your APU cycling on and off. Our quiet comfort is the result of years of engineering planning and testing. You're going to like your ProMax APU.

QUESTION 5: Can a ProMax APU generate 120 volt AC power?

ANSWER: Yes! With the optional inverter, the ProMax APU produces up to 2000 watts of continuous (4000 watts peak) 120 volt AC power to keep your in-cab appliances fully powered. To protect the main batteries from excessive discharge the APU features auto–start capability, enabling the APU provides up to 200 amps to maintain and fully charge the trucks main 12 volt batteries.

Additionally, the optional inverter provides a "shore power" hookup that allows you to connect your truck to an external 120 volt power source, eliminating the need to use the main engine or APU to provide AC power the inside of your cab.

Note:  The ProMax APU provides sufficient power to your batteries to power nearly any inverter you may have in use. This allows you to use microwaves, computers, TV's, lights or even power tools from the comfort of their cab.

QUESTION 6: What makes the ProMax APU superior to its competitors?

ANSWER: To manufacture the best product on the market, you begin with the end in mind. Our focus was on you and your needs. We understand what you want from an APU:

These sound easy. But creating such a system that was designed to take the punishment of being mounted to your trucks' frame and traveling with you everywhere. We think you'll agree: Your APU needs to be every bit as rugged and reliable as your truck is.

That's why the ProMax APU was engineered to be the best. It is clear from the features of the ProMax APU, that it is unsurpassed in performance:

QUESTION 7: How much noise does the APU create?

ANSWER: The ProMax® APU meets the federally mandated National Park Service Standard (36 CFR 2.12: 60 db at the A-WEIGHTED scale @ 50 ft) for RV generator noise, and is quiet enough that a conversation can be held right next to it. The decibel rating is 56 db at twenty feet.

QUESTION 8: How does the ProMax APU help with cold starts of your rig's main engine?

ANSWER: The ProMax APU offers an optional 120 volt AC feature to power the main engine block heater and any aftermarket secondary heaters, such as those for tanks and fuel lines. This will maintain engine heat without creating potential truck warranty and failure concerns common with systems that tap into the main engine's coolant and oil systems.

QUESTION 10: Who installs the APU onto the rig?

ANSWER: Because installation may differ based on the rig and space requirements on the frame of your truck, Dunamis strongly recommends factory installation. Factory installation also helps to avoid any problems that may void your trucks' warranty. The factory "standard installation" is reasonably priced.  And you will receive a price up front, before work begins. A standard factory installation requires 29" of clear rail where the modular unit will be installed. It also needs to be clear behind the rail to the drive shaft. If your truck does not have this space available, don't worry. We can figure out a way to install your ProMax APU professionally. However, non-standard installation will require more time and additional charges.

QUESTION 11: How much downtime will be required for the installation?

ANSWER: Installation is typically done in a single day. However, some trucks may require a day and a half to complete installation.

QUESTION 12: Where can I get my ProMax APU serviced and repaired?

ANSWER: We welcome the opportunity to service your ProMax APU or provide any necessary repair at the factory. However, your diesel mechanic can provide most service and repair at the same time your truck is being serviced. If you or your mechanic has a service question, call us, we will walk you through it.

QUESTION 13: How often does the ProMax APU need to be serviced?

ANSWER: It requires service at the same intervals as your truck engine. Other than the initial oil change required at fifty hours, it is recommend that you change your oil every 1,000 hours.

QUESTION 14: Does installing an APU onto your rig void the rig warranty?

ANSWER: The ProMax APU was designed to operate independent of your trucks main engine systems. If properly installed, it will not affect your rig's warranty.
